Our Story

Our father, Antony, kept birds his entire life. In 1985, he opened a small bird shop in Crews Hill — just 20 feet square, tucked into the corner of a nursery. Over 30 years, he gradually expanded it, one section at a time, into what is now recognised as one of the UK's largest and most famous bird shops.

My sister worked at the centre and ran it for several years before my wife and I took over. Today, the Enfield Bird Centre is a true family affair, with our daughter Chloe also part of the day-to-day team. Forty years in the same location, same family, same passion.

We stock hundreds of species — from tiny zebra finches and colourful budgies to magnificent macaws and intelligent African Greys. We also carry rare and unusual species that you won't find in everyday pet shops. Every bird in our care is looked after with love and attention until they find their forever home.

Alongside our birds, we carry a complete range of cages, aviaries, feed, toys, and accessories. We take an old-school approach to feeding — we believe in quality seed and fresh fruit over pellets, though some customers opt for a 50/50 mix. Our birds get fresh broccoli every day, which they love.

We believe in giving honest, knowledgeable advice and finding the right bird for your lifestyle. Whether you're a first-time bird owner or an experienced aviculturist, we're here to help — and we've been doing it for four decades.
